Getting Started
Celebrations make it easy to recognize and elevate meaningful employee milestones like birthdays, work anniversaries, onboarding, and new starters. Admins can automate these moments by configuring when cards are created, whether points are included, and who gets to see and sign them. Cards can be personalized and managed centrally to ensure each celebration feels thoughtful and aligned with your company’s culture.
From the Celebrations section of the Admin menu, you can customize privacy settings, card content, automation rules, and permissions all in one place.
When to Use This Feature
- Welcoming new hires with an automated card on their start date
- Celebrating birthdays or anniversaries with team-signed cards
- Recognizing onboarding milestones like 30, 60, or 90 days on the job
- Controlling event and card visibility for private celebrations or cultural preferences
Step-by-Step Instructions
Configuring celebration settings
- Go to Admin > Engagement > Celebrations.
- Under the Privacy tab, define settings for each event type: Welcome, Birthday, Work Anniversary, and Onboarding milestones (7, 30, 60, 90 days).
- For each type:
- Toggle Automated card to generate and send a card with email notification.
- Set Public or Private visibility:
- Public events show in the Celebrate page and allow others to sign the automated card (if enabled).
- Private events are hidden and only the recipient is notified (if points are attached).
- Note: If an event is public but a user has marked it private in their profile, the system will generate a card but only show it to the recipient.
- Click Configure points to set how many points, if any, are awarded for each event. You can assign points based on employee type using the appropriate teams. Find out more in this article: How to allocate points for Celebrations and milestones.
Setting permissions for who can create cards
- Navigate to the Permissions tab.
- Choose who can create cards manually:
- Admins only
- Admins and selected individuals or teams
- Everyone in the organization
Customizing automated card content
- Open the Cards tab.
- For each celebration type, set:
- Default Card title
- Default Message (editable by users later)
- Choose card background images:
- Use provided options and/or upload custom designs. You can limit this selection of images to as many or as few as required.
- Select a default background per card type (editable by users later)
Note: The default card title, message and background image for each event type will be used to generate automated cards and as (editable) default content when a manual card is created.
Helpful Tips & Ideas
- Use automation to ensure no milestone goes unrecognized, especially helpful in larger organizations.
- Keep default messages warm but simple: users often appreciate starting with a default and personalizing it.
- Consider uploading branded card backgrounds for a polished, company-specific feel.
- Use visibility rules to align with local culture or employee preferences for private celebrations.
