Getting Started
Awards allow you to celebrate employee excellence in a more formal and visible way than everyday recognition messages. They are best suited for acknowledging significant achievements, company milestones, or special contributions that go above and beyond. You can create custom badges, give points from a dedicated point bank, and manage permissions so that leaders and managers can give awards in a structured and budget-friendly way.
Each award can also be linked to on or more company values, allowing you to control which qualities can be selected when the Award is given. As a result, Award achievements can be directly connected to the specific qualities and behaviors defined in your company values.
Awards can also be given through a nomination process, giving your teams the chance to put forward peers before a final recipient is chosen. For more info on Nominations, see the How to create and manage Nominations article.
When to Use This Feature
- Celebrating major achievements such as project completions, outstanding performance, or contributions that significantly influence the team or organization
- Running formal award programs tied to company values, such as quarterly or annual value awards
- Highlighting special campaigns (e.g., wellness initiatives, diversity programs, or innovation challenges)
- Recognizing contributions that merit more than a standard recognition message
- Providing leaders with a structured way to give recognition while maintaining budget control
Step-by-Step Instructions
Creating an award
- In the Admin menu, go to Engagement > Awards and Nominations > Awards
- Click Create award
- Enter a name and description for the award. Use the award description to tell users why and when this award should be given
- Upload a custom badge image (optional)
- Set a default point value:
- Leave as 0 if no points should be given
- Select a point bank if points will be attached (points are deducted from the assigned bank, not the giver’s allocated point balance)
- Choose whether award senders can adjust the point amount
- Assign permissions by team or individual to control who can give this award
- Toggle Award is active on or off, depending on whether you want the award available immediately
- Select which value(s) are represented by this award - this will determine which qualities can be selected when the award is given (optional)
- Click Save to create the award
Managing awards
To monitor and manage existing awards:
- Go to Engagement > Awards and Nominations > Awards in the Admin menu
- Use the search or filter options to find the award you want to manage

Click the three-dot menu next to the award for quick actions:
Edit: Update the award name, description, badge, point value, or permissions
Duplicate: Create a copy of the award with the same settings for quick reuse or edits
Send award: Go directly to the award sending view
Bulk send award: Upload a list of recipients for this award
Note: Budget usage can be easily monitored from this view

FAQs
Q: What happens if I only assign 1 value to an award?
A: Only the qualities related to that value will be available to choose from when the award is given
Q: Can awards be given without points?
A: Yes. Simply set the point value to 0 when creating the award.
Q: Who can create awards?
A: By default, only admins can create awards. Permissions can however be assigned to teams or individuals to give those awards.
Q: Can managers adjust the points on an award?
A: Yes, if the award was created with an unlocked point value. Otherwise, the points remain fixed.
Q: Where will employees see awards?
A: Awards appear in the main wall feed, and pinned awards show in the Upcoming and important section.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Problem: Users don’t see the award I created for them
- Check if the Award is active toggle is turned on
- Confirm you assigned them permission to give the award
- Verify the point bank funding the award hasn't been deleted
Problem: Points are not being deducted from the budget
- Make sure the award is linked to the correct point bank
- Confirm the point bank has a sufficient balance
Problem: Users don’t see the option to send an award
- Verify they have been granted permission for at least one award
- Remind them to toggle to Send award in the Give bar
- Ensure they are navigating to the Awards page from the Home menu
Problem: Award messages are not visible in the feed
- Check that the award has been sent successfully
- Pin the award to Upcoming and important for more visibility
Problem: No qualities are being attached when giving an award
- Check that Require qualities selection is enabled on the award
- Make sure the desired value is assigned, or leave the selection blank if you want all values included
