Getting Started
Spaces is a social, visual, and interactive hub within Kudos where employees can connect, share updates, and build a stronger sense of community. It brings together posts, photo albums, and conversations into one central place, helping your organization stay connected—especially across remote or distributed teams.
With Spaces, you can create dedicated areas for teams, events, or shared interests, then engage through posts, photos, comments, and reactions. Admins and designated users can manage Spaces and control who can contribute content, making it flexible for both open collaboration and structured communication.
When to Use This Feature
- Launching a company-wide initiative or campaign with a dedicated space for updates and engagement
- Creating event-based spaces (e.g., team offsites, contests, or volunteer days) to share photos and highlights
- Building employee communities around shared interests like wellness, DEI, or hobbies
- Supporting ongoing communication for departments or distributed teams
- Encouraging cultural storytelling through posts, photos, and team moments
Step-by-Step Instructions
Create a space (Admins and permitted users only)
- Navigate to Spaces.
- Click Create space.
- Complete the Details section:
- Enter a Space name.
- Add a Description.
- Customize your Space:
- Upload a Space icon (PNG or JPG).
- Upload a Space banner image.
- Set Permissions:
- Who can create posts (Everyone or Admins and space creators only).
- Who can create albums (Everyone or Admins and space creators only).
- Click Create.
Note: Once created, the Space is immediately live and visible to all users.
Create a post in a Space
- Open a Space.
- Click the Create a post field.
- In the Create a post modal:
- Add your message.
- Use formatting options (bold, lists, etc.).
- Insert images, GIFs, mentions, or attachments.
- Click Post.
Note: The Create a post option only appears to users who have permission to post (Everyone or Admins and space creators only).
Create and manage albums
- Create an album:
- Open a Space.
- Navigate to Albums.
- Click Create album.
- Enter album details (name and description).
- Set who can upload photos.
- Click Create.
- A post will automatically be added to the Space wall feed when an album is created.
Note: The Create an album option only appears to users who have permission to create albums (Everyone or Admins and space creators only).
- Add photos to an album:
- Open an album.
- Click Add photos.
- Upload photos by dragging and dropping files, or clicking Select photos.
- Supported formats: JPG or PNG.
- Maximum size: 10MB per photo.
Note: The Add photos option option only appears to users who have permission to add photos to an album (Everyone or Album creator only).
Pin posts (Admins and Space creators only)
- Pin important posts to keep them at the top of the feed.
- Pinned posts appear first, followed by the most recent content.
Access Spaces
- From the Home page menu, click Spaces.
- Browse available Spaces or use the search bar to find a specific one.
- Turn on notifications to receive regular updates about any given Space.
- Click on a Space card to open it.
Note: All users can view all Spaces and their content.
Helpful Tips & Ideas
- Create purposeful Spaces for teams, events, or initiatives to keep content organized.
- Use albums to capture visual moments like events, contests, or milestones.
- Pin key updates and content on the Space wall feed to ensure visibility.
- Promote Spaces during launches or campaigns to increase participation.
- Remember: once a Space is created, it is immediately visible - there is no draft or scheduled state.

Q: Who can create Spaces?
A: Admins or selected users/teams with permission can create Spaces.
Q: Can all users see all Spaces?
A: Yes. All users can view all Spaces and their content.
Q: Can users interact with content in Spaces?
A: Yes. All users can comment and react to posts and photos.
Q: Can posts be pinned?
A: Yes, but only Admins and Space creators can pin or unpin posts.
Q: Can I upload multiple photos at once?
A: Yes. You can upload multiple photos in one action, with no limit on quantity (10MB per photo max).
Q: What happens when an album is created?
A: A post is automatically added to the Space feed to highlight the new album.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Problem: Users don’t see the Create space button
- Confirm they have permission to create Spaces.
- Designate them as Space creators to grant them the necessary access
Problem: Users can’t create posts in a Space
- Check the Space’s posting permissions.
- To grant access to all users, click Edit on the relevant Space and change the posting permissions from Admins and space creators only to Everyone
Problem: Users can’t upload photos
- Confirm the file type is JPG or PNG and that each file is under 10MB.
- Check who has permission to add photos to the album.
- To grant access to all users, click Edit on the relevant album and change the photo permissions from Just me to Everyone
Problem: Users are not receiving notifications
- Confirm they are subscribed to the Space.
- Have them check their notification settings under My settings > Notifications.
- Verify email and in-app notifications are enabled.
