Getting Started
The flagged content feature helps keep your Kudos environment respectful, appropriate, and aligned with your company values. It allows users to report recognition messages, awards, comments, or card messages that may be inappropriate, incorrect, or otherwise concerning.
Flagged content is instantly removed from public view and added to the Flagged content review queue, where program admins can assess and take action. Admins can preview the full context of any flagged item - especially helpful when it’s part of a larger thread, like a comment on a message - to determine whether it was flagged appropriately.
Note: All users can flag content, except for content posted by admins. Only other admins can flag content created by a fellow admin. This helps protect intentional or program-driven posts from being mistakenly removed.
When to Use This Feature
- A recognition message contains inappropriate or offensive language
- Someone mistakenly posts a personal or sensitive comment publicly
- A card is misused or contains incorrect information
- A comment on a public award is off-topic or unprofessional
- A team member reports a post that doesn’t align with company guidelines
Step-by-Step Instructions
Flagging content
- Locate the content you wish to flag (e.g., a recognition post, comment, award, or card message)
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on the content
- Select Flag to admin and hide from public view
- The content is instantly moved to the Flagged content queue for review
Note: Users cannot flag content created by admins. If a concern arises with admin-posted content, it must be flagged by another admin.
Reviewing flagged content
- Go to Admin > Admin tools > Flagged content
- Review the list of flagged items, including who flagged the content and when
- Use the tabs at the top (Awards messages, Recognition messages, Comments, Card messages) to view flagged items by type
For recognition messages and award messages, the full message is displayed directly for review
For comments or eCard messages, you can access the full context by selecting the View post or View card link
- Decide whether to:
- Keep it flagged (content remains hidden)
- Restore content if it was flagged incorrectly or unnecessarily
- The action is applied immediately and updates the content’s visibility
Note: A system notification is automatically sent to all admins when content is flagged.
Helpful Tips & Ideas
- Encourage team members to flag responsibly, reserving it for content that truly violates norms or policies.
- Most content can be edited by the original poster for a limited time. Whenever possible, users should use the Edit option to fix or update their own content instead of flagging it.
- Reserve flagging for situations where the content cannot be edited (e.g., posted by someone else), or when it needs to be removed immediately due to inappropriateness.
- Review flagged content regularly to ensure timely action and prevent misunderstandings.
- When possible, reach out to the content creator directly if clarification is needed before restoring or removing content.
- If content is frequently flagged from specific sources, it may be worth reviewing your internal content guidelines or providing coaching.
